French Summer Sale Highlights

Catch up on the highlights of the French Summer Sale at Arqana. 
 
- HB Bloodstock bought the top lot Gevrey Chambertin, who is by Dom Alco, on behalf of the owners of Grand Crus and trainer David Pipe for €150,000. The 3yo is a full-brother to the top class Gr.2 Cleeve Hurdle winner and dual Gr.1 placed Grand Crus also trained by Pipe.  
 
- Jehan Bertran de Balanda bought Jumpstyle Davis, who is by Saint Des Saints, for €78,000 on behalf of Alan Potts, who was busy at the Derby Stores Sale in Ireland last week.. 
 
- Gerry Hogan paid €50,000 for Le Bec who is by Smadoun on behalf of Tim Syder and trainer Emma Lavelle, who already own the 3yo gelding’s half-brothers, Tocca Ferro who is a dual Listed winning hurdler and The Last Night, who are both by April Night. He will now be trained with Emma Lavelle
 
- David Powell of Highflyer Bloodstock secured Ranjaan, a 3yo from the Aga Khan consignment for €200,000. This colt won at 2 and 3 and will be syndicated by Highclere Racing and be trained by Paul Nicholls. He hopes he will turn into a nice chaser for the future.
 
- Willie Mullins was there and he had to go to €140,000 to get Darroun who is by Dalakhani and is for an existing owner of Willie's.
 
- Guy Petit paid €110,000 to get Mentalist who is by Westerner. He is a 3yo colt and is for an existing client of Petit's who will go jumping in England. Mentalist was a 2 time winner as a 2yo and has been placed twice this year. He is out of Lady Carole who won over jumps as a 3yo at Auteuil.
 
- Petit also bought Almadan who is by Azamour for €54,000 from the Aga Khan-consignment on behalf of trainer Ferdy Murphy.
 
- Nick Gifford was busy and bought the 3yo AQPS gelding Utopian by Kapgarde for €120,000. He has won his only start and is for an existing owner of his.
 
- Gifford also bought Parigino who is by Panis for €102,000. He is for an existing owner and he has already seem him jump at his trainers yard and was impressed by him.
 
- TJ Bloodstock paid €120,000 for Kazlian who is by Sinndar and will be trained by David Pipe. He has already won easily at Cagnes-sur-Mer in February. 
 
- Hubert Barbe of HB Bloodstock bought the 4yo War Singer who is by War Chant for €100,000 and will be trained by David Pipe.
 
- Overall 243 horses were offered and 69% sold. The average price was €22,924 and the median was €15,000.
