Land Rover Sales Highlights

Catch up on the highlights of the Land Rover Sale at Goffs.
 
- Over the 2 days out of the 455 catalogued there were only 283 sold (62%) and 172 were not sold (38%).  
 
- Overall the average price worked out at €14,030. 
 
 
Day 1 Review

- Tom Malone paid €40,000 for a 3yo son of Presenting from Rathbarry Stud. He is out of an own-sister to the dual Listed chase winner An Maineach. 
 
- Gerry Hogan started his busy two days of buying by getting a 3yo son of Oscar, who is out of Cherrymount - an unraced Oscar Schindler mare - for €50,000. She is a half-sister to two winners including Django, a useful Listed placed chaser.
 
- Dessie Hughes bought a son of the popular Stowaway for €28,000 from Ronnie O'Neill. The gelding relatives go back to Majestic Man, a talented juvenile hurdler.
 
- Gerry Hogan was busy again as he bought a Fruits Of Love gelding out of an own-sister to Arkle Chase winner and top class chaser Forpadydeplasterer for €18,000.
 
- Gerry Griffin paid €40,000 for a 3yo son of the French Group 2 winner Morozov. He comes from the same family as Jimmy Mangan's Grand National winner Monty's Pass and the high class staying chaser Harbour Pilot. He will be trained by Nicky Richards for an existing owner.
 
- Margaret O'Toole paid €57,000 for a son of Oscar from The Castledillon Stud. He is related to the smart novice chaser Coscorrig.
 
- David Minton purchased a nice son of Oscar from Norman Williamson’s Oak Tree Farm for €54,000. He is out of an unraced Be My Native half-sister to Certainly Strong - a Listed winning chaser.
 
- Jonjo O’Neill bought a son of Presenting for €40,000 who is out of an unraced Darazari mare from the family of the top class jumpers Rhinestone Cowboy and Wichita Lineman.
 
- The Favourites Racing team bought a son of Craigsteel from Garryrichard Stud for €33,000. His dam is an own-sister to the great staying chaser Florida Pearl.
 
- Noel Meade paid €42,000 for a Flemensfirth gelding from Summerhill. He is out of a half-sister to Simon, the Racing Post Chase winner.
 
- Gerry Hogan spent €50,000 on a 3yo son of Oscar and is from the family of the top class Trabolgan and also bought a son of Milan from Conna Stud for €50,000 who is from the same family as the RSA chase winner Cooldine.
 
- Paul Nolan went to €30,000 to get an Oscar gelding who is a half-brother to 4 winners, including Accordingtojodie.  
 
- Jim Culloty bought an Oscar gelding who is out of a bumper-winning daughter of Anshan for €37,000. He comes from the a family of the Grade 1 winning novice hurdler First Lieutenant.
 
- A €60,000 son of Flemensfirth topped day 1 of the sale and was bought by none other than Gerry Hogan who secured him. He is a grandson of Alleged and is a half-brother to 3 winners and the promising 4yo point-to-pointer Don't Back Down.

Day 2 Review
 
- Eddie O'Leary bought the top lot of the sale for €78,000. He is a son of Flemensfirth out of a placed Anabaa half-sister to the Triumph Hurdle winner Spectroscope. 
 
- Favourites Racing bought a son of Old Vic for €50,000. He is a half-brother to the high class Listed hurdles winner Morning Supreme from the Willie Mullins stable.
 
- Gerry Hogan was busy again and he bought a son of Kalanisi for €25,000. He is a half-brother to 5 winners and is out of an own-sister to the Lowther Stakes winner Miss Demure. The gelding was owned by Paul Hennessy.
 
- James Doyle purchased a 3yo son of Definite Article for €25,000. He is a half-brother to a winner out of the dual Grade 2 placed novice chaser Returning. 
 
- Roger Marley bought a son of Milan for €29,000 who is a grandson of Sadler's Wells and is out of a dual winning hurdler who is related to high class dual purprose Dancing Bay.
 
- Gerry Hogan bought a 3yo son of King's Theatre for €30,000 who is related to dual winners Morgansaccord and Gotno Destination.
 
- Gerry Hogan bought another Fruits Of Love gelding, this time for €26,000. The Hansel grandson is a half-brother to a Grade 3 Handicap Chase winner Macs Flamingo.
 
- John Nallen paid €45,000 for a son of King’s Theatre. He is the second foal out of Burnt Out, a 3 times winner and Gr.3-placed hurdler.
 
- Bobby O’Ryan spent €40,000 for a son of Astarabad from Ballincurrig House Stud. The 3yo is out of a winning daughter of Northern Park from a good French jumping family. He was bought for an owner of Colm Murphy’s.
 
- Paul Nolan bought a son of the French stallion Network for €30,000. He is a half-brother to four winners.
 
- The average price on Day 2 was €13,944.
