National Hunt Horse Sale at Tattersalls Review

  • The top lot sold on the day was the half brother to the 2010 Gr.1 Champion Hurdle winner Binocular. He was sold to Tom Rudd for €100,000 and is a yearling colt from the first crop of the top class stayer Yeats. He is out of the French Listed placed hurdler Bleu Ciel Et Blanc and is a half brother to 4 winners. 

 

  • John O’Byrne bought a yearling colt by Presenting for €35,000 from Rathbarry Stud. He is out of Supreme Dreamer, who was a bumper winner and a half sister to 8 winners, including Gr.1 Galway Hurdle winner Cloone River
  • Another Presenting colt went to John O’Byrne, this time for €33,000 and from Hillhead Farm. This yearling colt is a half brother to Hop In, who was placed over hurdles and is out of an Old Vic half sister to Sir Oj, a multiple Gr.2 winner and Otay Kawn, a Gr.1 placed chaser.
  • O’Byrne was again in action when buying a daughter of Presenting for €31,000 (making her the top priced filly of the day). This yearling is a half sister to 3 winners, including the Gr.1 Novice Hurdle Cheltenham winner - and 6 time winner in all - Massini’s Maguire
  • Landscape Stud bought a Flemensfirth colt for €32,000. He is out of an unraced Alderbrook half sister to Albertas Run, who has won the Gr.1 Ryanair Chase twice, as well as the Gr.1 RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. The stallion was given another boost at the weekend by the impressive Gr.1 Arkle Novice Chase winner Flemenstar.
  • Gerry Merrigan bought a Presenting colt from Rathbarry Stud for €30,000 and is a half brother to Gr.2 winner Lochbuie and Gr.3 Fred Winter Juvenile Novices Cheltenham winner, Silk Affair
  • Ian Ferguson paid €25,000 for a son of Westerner from Sheridan House Stables. He is out of the French Listed and 7 times winning, Limnos mare, Nostra. 
  • Mill House Stud sold a King’s Theatre yearling colt to Ferguson for €20,000. He is out of an unraced Garde Royale full sister to a French hurdle Listed winner. 
  • Richard Rohan bought a son of Presenting for €25,000. He is out of a Broadway Flyer half sister to Buck’s Dream, a useful chaser and is the immediate family of the mighty Big Buck’s, 3 time Gr.1 World Hurdle winner and recently extended his record breaking winning run to 15. 
  • Galbertstown Stud sold a daughter of Fragrant Mix to Central House owner John Kenny for €24,000. She is a half sister to the impressive Gr.2 Wayward Lad Novice Chase at Kempton winner, Sprinter Sacre
  • John Kenny also bought a colt by the French sire Network, who is well represented by Rubi Light and Sprinter Sacre, for €20,000. He is out of an April Night half sister to Nycteos, winner of the Gr.2 Silver Chase.
  • Overall there were 253 catalogued and 118 sold (46%) with the average price coming in at €7,406.
